Join us on 14 February to celebrate the Year of the Snake at esea contemporary’s Lunar New Year Celebration!
This special event brings together our supporters, collaborators, artists, and partners from Manchester and beyond to mark the season and experience our latest exhibition, ‘Shadow and Void: Buddha¹⁰’. Co-presented by esea contemporary and MAO (Museum of Asian Art), Turin, the exhibition showcases recently restored Buddhist sculptures from the seventh to the eighteenth centuries CE, on loan from MAO, alongside contemporary works by Shigeru Ishihara, Lee Mingwei, LuYang, Sun Xun, Sinta Tantra, Wu Chi-Tsung, and Zheng Bo.
As part of the celebration, we are delighted to launch four new paintings by Sinta Tantra, presented as part of 'Shadow and Void: Buddha¹⁰'. These exclusive works will be on display in the gallery for the first time and available for purchase, with proceeds supporting esea contemporary’s mission to empower and platform Asian voices in contemporary art. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery for their generous support.
